QualificationsMusic Therapist Requirements &amp; Core Responsibilities: Graduate of an accredited music therapy program with bachelor&#x27;s degree in music therapy. One of the following: Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BT) National Music Therapy Registry American Music Therapy Association Or another national organization that certifies, registers, or accredits Music Therapists. Ability to pass background, consumer report, and drug test. Provide music therapy per plan of care; assess patients and determine effectiveness. Implement interventions to relieve symptoms and support emotional, physical, and spiritual comfort. Use techniques such as relaxation, lyric analysis, songwriting, and life review; document sessions promptly. Educate team, maintain HIPAA compliance, and participate in interdisciplinary meetings and quality improvement. <p>We are seeking a passionate and experienced Music Instructor to lead individual and group piano lessons, develop engaging curriculum and assessments, and build collaborative community partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, performance experience, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment aligned with The Salvation Army’s mission. This role requires active participation in outreach, recruitment, and program development efforts. The position works up to 18 hours a week with a pay rate of $20-$23/hour depending on skills and experience. Job Objective: The music instructor will be responsible for teaching group and/or individual music lessons, developing curriculum and assessments, and establishing collaborative partnerships within the community. Required to actively participate in the recruitment and outreach efforts set forth by the Arts &amp; Education Manager. Required to attend assigned staff meetings. Willing to teach additional classes and workshops as needed. Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, or equivalent qualified performance experience. Experience: Three years required, five years preferred of teaching experience either in a classroom setting or private/group lessons. Provide a record of musical performance experience. Evidence of experience in curriculum development. Competencies and Skills: Have the ability to work with children, parents and staff in a capacity of leadership. Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter. Performance experience in individual content area of teaching. Is expected to start class on time with room set-up and reset room as required. A working knowledge of music literature. Have a philosophy of education and child development, which is consistent with that of The Salvation Army. A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible. A willingness to promote the mission of the Salvation Army. Must be Safe from Harm certified within 60 days of hire. Supervisory Responsibility: None Physical Requirements: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the duties of this job.
